IPL hair removal by medical professionals.

BellaDerma specialises in permanent hair removal using modern technology. We only use clinically proven IPL-2 systems of the latest generation. Permanent hair removal in Berlin is carried out by our trained, medical professionals.

IPL light against body hair

The light technology represents a revolution in the field of permanent hair removal. In less than a second, hundreds of hair follicles are destroyed gently, without side effects and permanently. The permanent hair removal procedure is based on intense light pulses. The impulse is directed into the skin via the epidermis of the body region to be treated, similar to a camera flash. The harmless long-wave light is then absorbed by the melanin-containing hair in the hair follicle and directed to the hair root. The absorption causes the light to be converted into heat. At a temperature of 70-74 degrees Celsius, the protein decomposes. The hair follicle, which is currently in the anagen phase, dies.

Growth cycle of the hair

Hair or hair follicles go through several phases that are not synchronous. Different hairs undergo different phases at the same time. The phases are: Anagen phase (growth phase), Catagen phase (expulsion phase), Telogen phase (resting or regeneration phase). IPL hair removal is only possible during the growth phase. During this phase, the hairs have a connection to the hair root and the skin surface. The hair root is the seat of the melanocytes. Here the hair grows from the papilla of the hair bulb. 20 to max. 30% of the body hair is in the growth phase (visible hair). The hair is thus reduced by a maximum of this percentage per treatment. Depending on the body region, there is a treatment break of 4 to 8 or 10 weeks until the next treatment. During this time we wait for the development of the hairs that were in other phases during the pre-treatment. As soon as the hair becomes visible, the next treatment can take place. The treatment interval is adjusted to the natural hair growth cycle.

How many treatments are needed for hair removal?

To permanently remove all the hair from the chosen area of the body, 6 to 8 treatments are needed. The number of treatments can vary depending on skin type, hair structure and hair density. After each treatment you will already have a visible success and will be hair-free until the next phase.

IPL hair removal is clinically tested

The IPL-2 Epilux SP system used by BellaDerma belongs to the latest generation of IPL technology. Comparative studies by the Cutaris Laser Research Centre have shown the best treatment results for hair removal and skin treatment. Test persons with particularly hairy body parts (hypertrichosis, excessive hair growth) were treated with three different methods. The Alexandrite laser (EpiXan), the diode laser (LightScheer) and the Epilux SP system were used. The Epilux-Sp system from the medical device manufacturer Eillipse achieved the best result in this independent study. The procedure is successfully used at leading university clinics.

Of all the IPL-2 systems, only the Epilux SP system has independent studies. Whether other systems can actually achieve permanent depilation remains questionable without clinical studies.
