The Mediostar diode laser operates with variable wavelengths in the range of approximately 808 to 940 nanometers. This achieves both optimal absorption in melanin and deeper penetration into the skin. This makes it suitable for almost all skin types from I to VI—including lightly tanned skin. While Alexandrite lasers often reach their limits with darker skin types and Nd:YAG lasers are safe but less effective on fine hair, the MeDioStar® offers the ideal balance between effectiveness and safety for laser hair removal. Thanks to special handpieces, the MeDioStar® can also emit Alexandrite (~755 nm) and Nd:YAG (~1064 nm) in addition to the standard diode wavelength (approx. 810 nm) – for maximum flexibility and precise adaptation to individual needs.
Powerful contact cooling, which cools the skin surface to up to -4 °C, minimizes the risk of burns and ensures a particularly comfortable treatment. In addition, modern pulse technology distributes the energy evenly, avoiding hot spots and reducing side effects.
Compared to many other laser systems, the Mediostar offers a high degree of safety even on darker skin without compromising on efficiency. The risk of hyper- or hypopigmentation is significantly lower than with Alexandrite lasers.
