In German, the term PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma, referring to the English “plateled-rich plasma”. A special serum is used, which is obtained from the patient’s own prepared blood or from certain components. A small amount of blood is carefully taken for this purpose and treated in a centrifuge. First, the red blood cells are separated from the white blood cells and the platelets are processed further. The decisive factors in PRP are the growth factors it contains as well as cytokines and nutrients, all of which have a healing and stimulating effect.
