What does the abbreviation PRP stand for?
In German, the term PRP
stands for platelet-rich plasma, referring to the English “plateled-rich plasma”. A special serum is used, which is obtained from the patient’s own prepared blood or from certain components. A small amount of blood is carefully taken for this purpose and treated in a centrifuge. First, the red blood cells are separated from the white blood cells and the platelets are processed further. The decisive factors in PRP
are the growth factors it contains as well as cytokines and nutrients, all of which have a healing and stimulating effect.
How does PRP work against hair loss?
PRP therapy in Berlin is highly effective against hair loss. The stem cells at the hair roots and follicles are activated and ensure the regrowth of hair. At the same time, the blood circulation is stimulated – without any foreign additives or chemicals. It is also characteristic that PRP is often used for hair transplantation and the method is therefore already considered tried and tested. In some cases, special vitamins can be added or substances are used to strengthen the newly growing hair.
How does a PRP treatment on the scalp work?
After the required serum has been extracted from the blood, the injection is carried out with a very thin needle. The subcutaneous tissue of the scalp is addressed, which can be done without local anaesthesia. The duration of a treatment is between one hour and one and a half hours and as experts we initially recommend five appointments within six months. If desired, laser or mesotherapy can also be used to enhance the effect.
What side effects can occur after PRP therapy?
Basically, PRP therapy has no side effects. The minimal needle pricks on the scalp usually heal immediately and no scars remain.
