Removing melasma with the PicoSure laser.
Until now, melasma was usually treated with cryotherapy, microdermabrasion or peeling. Today, melasma is treated with a much gentler technology. For the removal of melasma, BellaDerma has been using the innovative PicoSure laser in both branches, in Berlin Mitte and Berlin Charlottenburg, for many years.
Best results with the unique PicoSure laser
The technology behind the Picosure® laser is groundbreaking. It works with energy pulses that affect the skin for just one trillionth of a second. PicoSure® also sets standards with regard to the width of the pulse and achieves values of just one hundredth of the previously established laser technology. The result is a particularly intense effect based on photomechanics. A direct comparison with other technologies reveals considerable advantages.
Other treatment options for melasma
There are a number of treatment options of a melasma. The aim is always to remove the hyperpigmentation or to achieve lightening. The basis of all treatments is a permanent high UV protection with a protection factor of 50, because UV radiation makes melasma even darker.
- Cryotherapy
One way to treat melasma is with cold. For this, the pigment cells of the melasma are iced, the skin reactions are similar to laser treatment.
- Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is also suitable as a treatment for melasma. Roughly described, it is a “sandblasting” of the skin. The uppermost pigment layers are removed with the aim of lightening.
- Peeling
One way of lightening melasma is peeling, for example by means of a fruit acid peel. In this process, the skin is treated with alpha hydroxy acid and the top layer dissolves. Several sessions are usually necessary to treat melasma. In addition to fruit acid peels, other chemical peels are also suitable as treatments.
